Letters and Opinions

These are opinion pieces that I have had published in a variety of newspapers and magazines. I have been writing letters-to-the-editor since 2006, and have had over 160 published since then. I also play guitar and sing in a musical revue called The Loser's Lounge. With a cast of guest singers, we perform tributes to great songwriters and bands. The show is in its 24th year, and we perform at Joe's Pub - The Public Theater and Lincoln Center in New York City.

On October 4, 2010, I was quoted for a second time in Metro's "The Word." Columnist Dorothy Robinson invited reader comments on Oksana Grigorieva's planned appearance on Oprah, in which her singing and piano playing during the show was required in exchange for her discussing her turbulent relationship with Mel Gibson. Ms. Robinson asked "if Oksana ever loved Gibson or if she was with him in order to further her career." I saw her point, but I took a different approach. Sadly, my comment went uncredited in the article...

The showcasing of Oksana Grigorieva's musical talents on Oprah may not be so much a sign of loveless opportunism as an attempt to define herself as something other than Mad Mel's punching bag.
